About Kajeet Kajeet was founded by three three dads figuring out how technology, kids and parents work best ("Kajeet" is an anagram of the first letters of the names of the company's founders' children). Kajeet's entire philosophy springs from a simple core idea: kids are smart. And they should be agile with technology, empowered and safe, and be able to respond with confidence to what's happening in their world. Because having a cell phone is not just fun, it's a responsibility--a shared responsibility, Kajeet wants parents and guardians to be involved too. Thus, Kajeet is designed to incorporate a full suite of tools to help families customize and manage every aspect of their Kajeet experience. For more on Kajeet's pay-as-you-go charges and monthly voice and text plans, see the Kajeet Service section below.

Phone turns off December 20, 2009 A. M. Hary (Minneapolis) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned this phone for close to two years and it has given me problems the whole time. For some reason the rumor likes to turn off on its own. I am not the only one who has had this problem. My cousin and her husband own it and they both had the same issue. Other than that, the Rumor is perfect for me. Turning off, however, is such a large issue that I had to give it 2 stars. Hopefully this problem has been rectified with the Rumor 2.
Kajeet LG Rumor Balances Kid Parent Interests December 15, 2009 Mali M. (New York) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Personally, I don't get the attraction of cell phones. I use a very basic prepaid model pay $100 a year and always have minutes rollover at the end of the year. But, of course my 12 year old wants to be able to send 100s of texts a day and have ongoing text conversations. She wants a phone that looks cool too. I'm not interested in buying a $100 a month plan. But, with the Kajeet, I can buy her unlimited text messaging and 150 minutes a month talk time for $20 a month. The rumor is sufficiently cool to make her happy. The phone does not say "Kajeet" on it and neither does the screen when it is turned on (that would be embarrassing). So, everyone is happy. The phone worked well and the service started quickly. While the phone is absurdly expensive, it's cheaper than getting one free and signing up for an expensive contract. The parental controls are nice--we use them to make sure the phone is off during school and after 9 pm--but, I really bought it to get the unlimited texting a fair price and provide a cool phone.
Good phone. Awfull service. December 4, 2009 Peter N. Uchakin (Macon, GA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first review on Amazon. A similar letter will be sent to BBB shortly. I've purchased LG Rumor with Kajeet's service for my daughter last February. Phone is fine, activation went without any significant trouble. Problems began after that. First, while we fulfilled the 3-month auto refill option, the promised $60 rebate offered by the Kajeet at that time is still not paid. Each time I've called, I get different explanations. At the beginning, it was "please give us more time to process it", then "it was Amazon's rebate, so talk to them", then there were other excuses The latest one was "it is so late we have to investigate this issue". Stephanie, who is a supervisor from the Customer Care, told me today that their department fulfilled their obligations and can't do anything about it, and that this is an issue for another department now. Secondly, soon after subscription, we signed up for the trial of the Kajeet's GPS phone locator. During that trial period, this option did not work a single time. By the way, each time we were able to call our daughter and she was able to receive calls and call us back. All these times, she was in the city where all providers work. It makes me wonder what GPS system Kajeet uses. Thirdly, billing system is quite complicated. I would assume all terms and conditions are written somewhere and it was my mistake to not read them VERY VERY carefully. The bottom line is if the money in your "pack" (plan) was used or it expired and you did not purchase another plan, you will pay 37 cent/day just for having their service. Yes the one which cannot locate phone, with 50 cents/minute for the first 10 minutes. So, if you really really really have to use services of a company that basically lifts your money (see issue 1), provides poor service (see issue 2), and is not actually friendly (see issues 1 and 3) - then go for it.
Overwise, I would recommend to stay away from this company. Since these phones cannot be used with other providers, I will wait until our girl will break this one (first time I wish that phone will be not that robust. LG did good job). After that - only unlocked phones, since you can switch between leeches...aka providers.
To Amazon: Guys you do a very good job, and I salute you. Just a reminder, even though the situation is not your responsibility, such companies affect YOUR prestige among YOUR customers. I think you are strong enough to choose your partners in business more cautiously.
worst phone November 24, 2009 Yesi Farias (Turlock, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This phone was great the first few months I got it, but I had to replace it twice with in a year. The first time It was because the screen turned blank. It just one day desided to not work! The second phone gave me almost the same problem only thing now is the F-ing phone turns off on it's own. Ill leave it in my pocket not even 5 mintues it turns off on it's own. And sometimes it would delay my resiving text messages to people. Oh also the phone when i tryed to take pictures or send messages or anything it would turn itself off as well. I dont recommend this piece of crap phone to anyone. Unless you like replacing it more then a year!

We purchased an LG phone for our 14 year old son about 6 months ago. We have had no problems with the phone or the service. I would highly recommend for anyone considering a phone for their child. The parantel controls are fantastic.
